The announcement of Alastair Cook’s upcoming withdrawal from international cricket was met with an avalanche of tributes dedicated to England’s debut.
At the age of 33, Cook will move away from England after the fifth and final Test against India in the Oval, will begin on Friday.
That showdown will be Cook’s 161st in the tests, leaving him seventh on the all-time list after a career spanning 12 years since his debut against India in Nagpur in 2006.  Cook made a hundred in that occasion, a sign of what will come for a man who became the top scorer of the test of his country.
